Construction Partner Chosen To Deliver London Homes
Despite the property market downturn, there is still lots of construction taking place in London and loads more in the pipeline, which is why your firm may need a construction agency in London to help recruit workers for your project.
Among the latest schemes to be announced is the building of 134 energy-efficient homes in Fulham.
Higgins Partnerships has been selected by Hammersmith & Fulham Council to deliver the Passivhaus development, which will replace Hartop Point and Lannoy Point, a pair of 14-storey tower blocks built in the 1960s. In doing so with new homes constructed to the highest energy-efficient standards, it will help the council move closer to meeting its target of net zero carbon by 2030.
Features of the buildings will include solar panels and air source heat pumps. The local environment will also benefit from lower building heights, with images of the new blocks indicating they will be between four and six storeys high.
Partnerships director for Higgins Declan Higgins remarked: “This development is a result of extensive consultation between residents, neighbours and the council to ensure the aims and objectives of residents are taken into consideration.”
Cllr Frances Umeh, the council’s cabinet member for housing and homelessness, noted that half the homes would be priced at social or affordable London rent levels. He added that plenty more building is planned, with the intention being to provide another 3,000 affordable homes over the next four years.
This project will not be the only upcoming local authority housing scheme in London. As Construction Enquirer reports, Redbridge Council has appointed Lovell Partnerships to deliver a new 160-home scheme on the site of a former school in Ilford, featuring four blocks of between five and seven storeys.
The site on Loxford Lane is now being cleared, with pre-construction piling work set to start in August.
