How Embracing Technology Can Level Up Construction

Construction recruitment agency - Tradeline Recruitment - Level up construction

Technological revolution is essential in any industry, especially after a start to a decade that has seen fundamental shifts in how so many people live, work and conduct business.

A forward-looking industry is one that attracts forward-thinking people, and the goal of recruitment in construction is not only to have skilled workers now but future industry leaders.

However, according to a survey undertaken by Yooz, the construction industry is perceived to be the least technically proficient major industry out of ten options, putting it behind hospitality, manufacturing and healthcare.

This is important, as according to the same study, half of the respondents under the age of 25 either agree (29 per cent) or strongly agree (21 per cent) that the adoption of new technology has

an effect on their career and therefore their career choices.

Furthermore, 24 per cent felt that a lack of training to use technology old and new effectively was a barrier to completing tasks in their profession.

This could be important in the long run as failing to take advantage of potentially game-changing technologies such as industry 4.0 tools, automation and artificial intelligence could cause young talent to shift their focus to competitors and industries that have committed to the future.

Of course, at the same time, it is important to be mindful of hype and ensure that the new technology you invest in will help to level up your business.

Construction has a lot of huge initial expenses, which means that it can be best to wait until the excitement of a new technology has dissipated unless you are certain it can help you now.

After all, much of the excitement seen for artificial intelligence, the technology seen to have the greatest industrial impact, is similar to that seen for the blockchain and the metaverse, technologies that have slipped and stumbled into relative irrelevance.
